When I look at a vehicle and ponder the suspension used to hold said vehicle off the ground, my brain is automatically dissecting the mechanics of it all and envisioning what the designer was trying to accomplish with their specific approach. I do this quite a bit with mountain bikes because the industry has very few standards as to what works and how the dynamics should interact with the bike/rider. After lots of this pondering, I decided that the overly complex suspension designs that companies are using these days are mostly for marketing rather than actual performance. There are a few designs out there that certainly have merit, but I think the industry as a whole is missing the point.

Initially, my frame would seem to be a simple swing arm with an adjustable shock link… and it is. But the specific placement of the swing arm pivot is the key. Also, the floating rear break is divine as compared to a non floating system.
