The mobile office

I don’t know if I have ever had a stranger request… “Can you build an IRS for a 3/4 ton Ford Excursion?” Well of course I can, but why?

It turns out that the owner of the Excursion uses it as a mobile office and the ride leaves a little to be desired when sitting directly over the rearend. We started with a Kugel Komponents 9″ Ford housing that they use on their IRS systems (don’t ask for one, they don’t sell them separately), stock 3/4 ton 4wd front hubs and built our own knuckles. The rotors are Wilwood parts, but the calipers are stock and we mounted them inboard to reduce the un-sprung weight as much as possible. We build custom arms out of sheetmetal to not look so obvious, but the King shocks are a bit obvious. One of the biggest hurdles was the E-brake and speed sensor, we managed to find a nice home for both of them on the pinion.
